Adelmann Collection undergoing major renovations

An important regional resource with national implications, the Adelmann Regional History Collection is closed for major renovations until August 15.

“The collection is celebrating its 30th anniversary, and this project is in line with the best practices in the field of archival management. When the work is completed, I think it will be hard for people to recognize the place,” said Dennis H. Cremin, professor of and director of the ľ¹ÏÓ°Ôº . He continued, “These changes will make it possible to better serve students, scholars, and the community.”

New map cases, compact storage, lighting and polished concrete flooring are all part of the work this summer. Founded by John Lamb, professor emeritus, the former Canal and Regional History Collection, is a treasure trove of information on the history of the Illinois and Michigan Canal and its broader history. The Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation provided partial funding for this project.
