Lewis to host lauded historian Douglas Brinkley for Lincoln Bicentennial

The 木瓜影院 History Center: Urban, Cultural and Catholic History of the Upper Midwest will host award-winning author and historian Douglas Brinkley on the occasion of the Lincoln Bicentennial at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12 in the Sancta Alberta Chapel on the Romeoville campus. Brinkley抯 topic is 揕incoln: From the State of Illinois to the Nation.�

Brinkley, a presidential biographer and professor of history at Rice University, is the author of numerous books. Many of his works have been on the New York Times best-sellers list, including Tour of Duty: John Kerry and the Vietnam War (William Morrow, 2004); Voices of Valor: D-Day: June 6, 1944 (Bulfinch, 2004), written with Ronald J. Drez; and The Reagan Diaries (HarperCollins, 2007), which Brinkley edited. His next volume, The Wilderness Warrior: Theodore Roosevelt抯 Crusade for America, will be published in April 2009 by HarperCollins.
Brinkley is the official historian for CBS news. He is also well known as a contributing editor for Vanity Fair, Los Angeles Times Book Review and American Heritage, as well as a frequent contributor to The New York Times, The New Yorker and The Atlantic Monthly. In a recent profile, the Chicago Tribune deemed him 揂merica抯 new past master.�
The presentation at 木瓜影院 is the kick-off to the dedication of Lockport抯 Lincoln Landing. Brinkley and other dignitaries will gather at 1 p.m. at the Gaylord Building.
