MBA Student Finds New Interest in Local History Collection

MBA Student Finds New Interest in Local History Collection

Published: September 6, 2022.

Naseem “Alina” Virani of Hyderabad, India, is earning a master's degree in business administration but has found new passion and interests in a local history collection of the ľ¹ÏÓ°Ôº History Center. The international student discovered it while working as a graduate assistant in the Adelmann Regional History Collection.

“I am beyond grateful for this opportunity. It has given me an experience in a completely different field. I have worked on scanning materials and completing the metadata so that the materials can be made assessable online,” said Virani.

She has worked on a “finding aid” for the John Lamb Papers and scanned negatives from the Robert Sterling Papers. The Sterling material includes over 1,000 35mm film negatives. Some of these images have not been seen in over 60 years.

"Alina brings a wonderful skillset from her studies in the College of Business. As an aspiring human resources professional, she is a key part of our team,” said Dr. Dennis H. Cremin, ľ¹ÏÓ°Ôº History Center Director.
