Lincoln Landing Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Lecture Series

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Lincoln Landing in Lockport, the Gaylord Building and 木瓜影院 History Center organized a lecture series in September. The talks are free and open to the public. The series features 木瓜影院 professors and students presenting their experiences working on Lincoln Landing and historical research.
Each event will take place from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the Gaylord Building Historic Site, 200 W 8th St. Lockport, Ill.�
On September 12, 揇rawing Lincoln � His Life and Times� will be presented by Jim Weren, long-time commercial artistic director. He became fascinated with the Civil War, which inspired him to draw the principal figures, including Abraham Lincoln. Two of Weren抯 Lincoln portraits are featured in the Lincoln抯 Legacy exhibit. His passion and knowledge of the subject have led to over 300 popular lectures, addressing different aspects of the Civil War, including battles and spies.
On September 19, 揕incoln Landing: From Dream to Reality� will be presented by Dr. Dennis Cremin, chair and professor of history at 木瓜影院. The director of the 木瓜影院 History Center will walk listeners through the development of Lincoln Landing from the concept to the completed interpretive park. As director of Interpretation for the park, he worked to create medallions as well as coordinate lesson plans.
On September 26, 揕incoln Landing in the Digital World� will be presented by 木瓜影院 student Kathleen Tite. The Lincoln Landing Intern will facilitate an interactive conversation around the development of electronic outreach for Lincoln Landing. She has updated the website and coordinates the park抯 social media accounts. She will highlight aspects of the website and lesson plans including working with Adam Darst, to create a flyover video of Lincoln Landing.
These events are being presented as a part of 木瓜影院抯 Arts & Ideas Program, providing cultural and educational programming for students and the community.
