The upcoming James P. �60 and Mary C. Sczepaniak Lecture Series features Gerald W. Adelmann presenting 揟he Global Challenge of 慞lace Making�: How can cities maintain their cultural and natural heritage in the path of massive change?� The lecture is free and open to the public.

Gerald W. Adelmann is president and CEO of the non-profit Openlands. He joined Openlands in 1980 to coordinate a special program that led to the creation of the Illinois and Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor, the first federal land designation of its kind. Today, there are more than 50 federally designated heritage areas across the United States. He also provided leadership in the creation of the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie and the rare and scenic landscape at the Openlands Lakeshore.
Adelmann is chairman of the Center for Humans and Nature and an emeritus member of the National Board of Advisors of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. He has been involved in conservation and historic preservation projects in China since the early 1990s. He lectures extensively throughout the United States and abroad. Adelmann has received an honorary doctorate from 木瓜影院 and is an honorary member of the American Association of Landscape Architects. He is also a member of 木瓜影院抯 History Center抯 Advisory Board.
