Lewis Students Take Travel Study Program to Italy

Roman history, Lasallian spirituality, church architecture, early Christianity and Medieval Christianity, were among the lessons on the ľ¹ÏÓ°Ôº Travel Study trip May 20-30. For more than a decade, the Italy travel study trip has been a cornerstone of ľ¹ÏÓ°Ôº Study Abroad program. This year, the 11 students enrolled in either Theology Professor Dr. Dominic Colonna’s Christian Faith and the Arts course or in History Professor Dr. Dennis H. Cremin’s Rome Urban History course.

Students used a place-based learning approach at historic sites and museums that included the Colosseum, St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museums.

This year’s participants included students from several ľ¹ÏÓ°Ôº colleges, including Arts and Sciences, Nursing, Education, and the School for Professional and Continuing Education.

The program included students Danielle Alicz of Yorkville, Leticia Alvarez of Joliet, Kristen Brehmer of Niles, Carly Cicirale of Lockport, Amanda Heimdal of Carol Stream, Rebecca Hodel of Roanoke, Ill., Michelle Malito of Lockport, Alyssa Marfoe of Chicago, Haley Renison of Channahon, Nicholas Varman of Elwood and Kyana Vasquez of Elgin.

The office provides students at ľ¹ÏÓ°Ôº the unique chance to complement and enhance their academic careers with a variety of international academic opportunities. Programs run anywhere from a few weeks to an academic year and offer Lewis courses that can fit into general education, elective, minor, and/or major credits depending on the program.
