Learn About the Chicago and Manilla Burnham Connection at the Gaylord Building

Architect Daniel Burnham抯 name is well-known for his Plan of Chicago but the urban planner also had plans for the Philippines, says Dr. Dennis H. Cremin, director of the 木瓜影院 History Center.
Cremin will address 揃urnham of Chicago in Manila� in an entertaining, illustrated presentation and dinner program at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 4 at the Gaylord Building in Lockport, Ill.
The event is enhanced by Cremin抯 expertise on famed architect Daniel Burnham, discussing Burnham background and his plans of 1905 for Manila and Baguio in the Philippines. He will draw on his book, 揋rant Park: The Evolution of Chicago抯 Front Yard� and reflect on his experiences as the keynote speaker at the Heritage Manila, Heritage Cities Forum Series, in Manila, Philippines. The 木瓜影院 history professor recently returned from the two-day forum held at De La Salle University, a Lasallian partner of 木瓜影院.
揟his forum in Manila grew out of the international Lasallian network, 搒aid Cremin. 揗y presentation emphasizes Burnham抯 plan for Manila and Chicago.� He continued, 揃urnham抯 vision still captivates us to this day.�
The evening will start with dinner at 6 p.m. and be followed by Cremin抯� presentation. The cost of the event is $25 including a buffet dinner of salad, pretzel rolls, pot roast, penne pasta, green beans, and garlic mashed potatoes, prepared by the Public Landing Restaurant.
